I find SQL code much more annoying than using EDBManager Smiley

Tiago,

Generally I agree. We discussed some of theses points here earlier. The
problems are:

1. Tim has not enough time to programm an editor with all the features
we would like to have.
2. Tim doesn't want to use third-party controls (even if they are
freeware), what I understand.

But: In my opinion such a great product as ElevateDB deserves an
excellent editor while I appreciate all efforts by Tim to improve it.
Apart from changing some unusual behaviours like regarding a complete
string as a token, no word wraps etc. there are many advanced features
that would make life much easier like Code-Folding or Auto-Indenting as
editpadpro offers it.

@Tim: how about making a deal with them (or someone else) and integrate
a special version of such an editor into EDBManager?

Of course all of us want Tim devoting his efforts to improve EDB (a great product yet), wasting time creating an editor is not a goal. I think is a good idea to integrate a 3tr party editor. The way to do is, I don't know it.

Tiago,

<< Editing in edbmgr is annoying for me. >>

That's not particularly helpful.  What exactly is so bad about the editor ?

I'm almost inclined to ditch the editor and put in a straight-up
TMemo...seemed to work for DBISAM.

Roy,

<< Try this
- New sql window - start typing - its fine - the memo picks up focus and
shows what you've typed.
- New sql window - ALT-TAB to another app, select some text and copy to
clipboard - ALT-TAB back to EDBManager and press ctrl-v - result nada. Click
into the memo and press ctrl-v and it works. >>

This is working for me here (Windows 7).

Adam,

<< I often have several SQL editing TabPages / windows open in the EDBMgr,
when each SCRIPT and SQL page is just called "New" it is hard to locate
which is which. >>

I'll see what I can do.

<< *** Views, Tables, Functions etc., in the tree _really_ should display
alphabetically. Right now they show in creation order. >>

You can sort each node as you wish by using the treeview menu above the
treeview.

<< *** I honestly don't agree on the SQL Memo ALT / CTRL behaviour. >>

Which behavior are your referring to ?

<< i.e. it is brilliant that the "CTRL + I" and "CTRL + U" Indent and
Unindent ... just like Delphi ... so I can do it in both places without
having to think. >>

The editor uses the same exact keystrokes and behavior as the Delphi code
editor - the only difference is the word/string selection issue that seems
to be so popular lately.

<< *** I am definitely seeing "not up to date" versions of VIEWS etc., in my
EDBMgr it is 2.05 build 1, I will download a newer version if there is one!
>>

2.05 B9 is the latest version/build.

Hi Tim,

I'm glad that you're only almost inclined because I really like EDBMgr and the editor.  It does need some improvements but overall I like using it (and it's much better than a TMemo).  Perhaps you could start a new thread where users could list enhancements they'd like to see.  Just a suggestion.

I'm on Vista, don't have W7 but I'll try on XP as well.
