Thread DBISAM Service only runs if it is given local administrator rights

Hi,

We have a client who cannot run DBSIAM Engine service unless they give it
full local administrator rights access.  A standard domain user fails.  Can
someone give any guidance on what are the minimum security requirements for
the DBISAM engine to run.?

If any extra information is required, the adminsitrator there used
SysInternals to record all system activity involving the dbsrvr.exe so I can
supply this if necessary to show where its falling over in domain account
versus local system adminsitrator account.

Thanks

Alex

Have you installed with "/NOINTERACT" switch ?
Like DBISAM /INSTALL /NOINTERACT.

If not you can alter the service properties, page Logon, you must uncheck
the box "Allow interact with desktop" and mark the option "Local System
account". I don´t know if these names are right because my Windows is in
Portuguese.

Is it the windows service that fails or the connection to the database that
fails? I normally only see the second issue. They run the service on one
machine and the data sits on another machine and then forget to set te right
correctly as the service runs using the  "LocalSystems" account

The minimum requirements are that the Local System account be used, which is
the default.  What exactly are the symptoms when they try to start the
service ?  There also should be an entry in the Windows event log if the
service cannot start successfully.
