Hi,

Is the DBISAM server affected Inbound connections limit in Windows XP?

From reading the following article, I would say Yes, but I just wanted to confirm
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314882

Cheers Stu

Hi Mauricio,

So If we have a customer with a XP Pro machine with the DBISAM Server and 15 network
clients, simultaneously connecting, there should be no problems?

Thanks Stu

I setup an XP pro box as a server in a cab office running
the DBISAM server 4 radio operators 10 booking clerks
and it also ran the accounts office staff 5 people, the manager
and his secretary, 5 video cameras also record to a swap drive.
Thats 26 connections not counting the 2 owners loggin in from
home to spy on the night staff. My guess is Bill screwed it up Wink
I know its not supposed to work but it does.

I would say no but what if its something M$ screwed up on the
European version and they read this ?
XP pro is the only Windows experience I have enjoyed.
Win2003 on my VPS site I also like but I have only ever seen 11
on the DBisam server at onetime.

Stuart Kelly,

If you are accessing the server in C/S mode, I believe you will have no problems. But you will need the client "exe" program in each
workstation.

Stuart,

<< Is the DBISAM server affected Inbound connections limit in Windows XP? >>

No.  That restriction is limited to network redirector connections from
other Windows computers for the purposes of peer-to-peer resource sharing,
not for straight-up TCP/IP connections like those used by the DBISAM
Database Server.   The limit for TCP/IP connections is definitely in the
thousands, at least.  I can't find any "official" MS documents regarding
this, but I do know that Windows XP SP2 does have a governor on the maximum
number of connections per second to help deal with security intrusions.
