Hi,

I have three customers who have just recently installed new servers (Windows
Server 2008 R2).  All of them are having the same problem running the
database engine as a service.  When the client tries to access it the
following message displays:

''#11276....connection to the database at xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx has been lost'

I tried disabling the firewall at one of my customers and it worked fine but
with the firewall on it doesnt work.  We have tried enabling all ports and
other access for the application on the client that needs to access the
DBISAM server.  Are you aware of any other settings that is required to be
set to make this work?  There is nothing in the DBISAM server log as it
doesn't appear to accept the connection at all.

DBISAM V3.30

Thanks

Alex

Did you make sure that the DBISAM Database Server ports (12005 and 12006)
are opened in the firewall on the W2008 machine ?

Hi Tim,

Yes thats the first thing I tried.  It seems though you have to do it at
application.exe level now.  Windows 2008 Server seems to lock everything
down now so looking for guidance on what the requirements are as far as
access is, is it just ports need to be open or are there other items?

Thanks

That doesn't sound right.  How could the server itself unblock the ports ?
The firewall is a function of the OS and/or hardware router.

You're going to have to do some investigating to find out what is blocking
the ports.  Here is a good place to start for the Windows 2008 firewall:
