Thread Corrupt Error 8961

I searched for this error but the newest post I found on this was dated January, so I thought I'd try a new thread.

Essentially, on a program that's been running fine for 10 months, all of a sudden one of my clients is getting a "Header Corrupt" error 8961 when trying to open my app, file won't open at all. I tried Verify in DBSYS but DBSYS finds nothing wrong with it.

I'm using CS on a Vista 64 computer. I can't figure this out for the life of me. I tried copying the table, still no go.

Any ideas? Please?

I'm still investigating but I sure would appreciate pointers on where to look. Thanks.

OK, got it. The file that was corrupt was not in the location I thought it was.

Now WHAT corrupted it is another issue.

Sorry for the false alarm, but at least this forum gives me an outlet for my frustration.Smile

Norman,

If your application is single-user, then a simple improper shutdown of the
computer can cause the Windows file system to mess up the table files by
inserting file blocks from unrelated files (DLLs, HTML pages, etc.).  Were
you able to repair the table using the DBISAM repair facilities ?  If you
weren't, then that is a good indicate of file system corruption.
