Hi,

I know, this has been discussed here several times, but I didnt' find a satisfying answer yet. Perhaps meanwhile someone knows more about this:

I have the DBISAM Server running as a service. A Customer wants to specify a Database directory that is located on an other machine. When trying to change the Database Directory with the Server Admin Utility I get an error 11293. This occurs when the network directory is specified whith a mapped drive and also if it's a UNC path.

I know that I have to run the DBISAM Service under a local user account that has sufficient rights to acces the network resources and not under the system account.

Nevertheless, what I try, I alway get the error 11293, "The database name or directory is either invalid or blank"

Any ideas?
DBISAM 4.25 Build 5, Delphi 2007

Burkhard,

What i usually do in these situations is first log into Windows using the user you will run dbisam server under and make sure you can access the UNC path using windows explorer as well as create/delete/edit files there.
This will ensure that you have enough permissions to access network paths as well as actual permissions on the the remote share.
If that works OK then run the dbsrvr normally (not as service) and see if you can configure it for the network path and then use it.

That works OK and i can configure the dbsrvr not as a service to use the network path. But when I then start it again as a service and try to use this database, i get an Error 11013 Access denied ... at the first attempt to open a table.
