Jon Lloyd Duerdoth | I came across this link
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=6ebcfad9-d3f5-4365-8070-334cd175d4bb&displaylang=en for anyone that might find it useful. Jon |

"Dominic Willems" | Thanks for that! Had looked for it a few weeks ago but it wasn't out yet.
Had copied the .exe over from my old XP and that has worked flawlessly ever since. Don't know what they changed in this one... |

Jon Lloyd Duerdoth | I'm still waiting for my first client to call saying they will be
purchasing a Vista enabled computer. I don't have the budget to get one myself so it will be interesting to handle support. Jon Dominic Willems wrote: > Thanks for that! Have Vista but no Vista customers. I predict nearly all service calls will be about Windows Defender, User Account Control, and other more obscure "Vista-knows-better-than-you" interference. In order for it to run acceptably I had to turn everything (concerning security) off, take "ownership" of all folders, and basically expose myself to all evil. That strategy has worked perfectly for me since the beginning of time, so I don't see why that'd stop now. Delphi 5 and all my apps run like a dream on it, once I had copied over the old Winhelp from XP, or now the Vista version. All in all, honestly, Vista is a far cry from a giant leap from XP, and productivity-wise it won't bring you any improvement. So, take your time. |

Jon Lloyd Duerdoth | Agree with all you've said.
Unfortunately for me/us is the fact that all new computers come only with Vista so any client purchasing a new computer will be the problem. I'm really quite happy with my XP pro environment and don't plan a change for the immediate future. "Jerry Clancy" | Loved the post. Your points are exactly those of the Apple ads running these
days and, regrettably, they're right on the money. I can now re-install all help files. I hope that will do it... |

I had the impression it was working, until I pressed F1 to get some context-sensitive help on a component. Errors of all kinds. Recompiling the help system didn't help. So I re-copied the Winhlp32.exe from the old XP machine and all is well again. Never fix anything that isn't broken. |
