Can anyone confirm this?!?!

It's showing on the INQUIRER.

It seems Borland had confirmed it (see Norman's post above).
Inprise naba two. Very strange decision. I'd never
announce anything like that, unless they want to loose
lots of sales. One thing is to have loyal customers
(which they did), and the other is to be loyal to
your customers... We can only conclude from this, that
their sales are not very good at this point.

Regards,
Michael

Ahhh... perfect. Now I can go jump off a building. heh. My
paranoia is complete. The only thing I can come up to this
moment is "NARF".

Thinking positively there's already so much Delphi out there that its unlikely to just up and die. Mind you I haven't placed an order for D2006 yet and I'm wondering if I should. Amazing what an announcement can do isn't it Smiley

Ehhh, take it easy Wink At first I also felt disappointed, but
then I thought - it's probably for the better anyway. Borland
didn't do a good job developing Delphi last... almost 5 years.
Since D7 (and even D5) was released, as a 3rd part developer I
only prayed, "would you please stop releasing them one after
another". I now have to support 6! versions of Delphi, which
are practically identical for the most parts and most of the
other parts are better off replaced by good 3rd party equivalents.
I know bugs in VCL that were there since D3... and are still
there in D2005. Same true for Image Editor and other companion
tools - not changed since D1 or D2 (what a shame!).

I really wish they didn't release D6, D8 and D2005(9) at all.
Something has got to change, otherwise they will die anyway.
So, relax, and stay happy with the version you already have Wink
I still use D5 & D7 for most of my projects and have no problems
with it. Delphi has never been very popular, but you can still
develop great software with it.

Cheers,
Michael

P.S. You know who won't buy it, they have better one. I'd bet
on IBM, Sun, Apple or Google. The best choice for us would
be if DevExpress + RemObjects would join forces to buy it, but
this doesn't sound very realistic.

Wishfully thinking...  Apple sure would be nice. Imagine a
VCL that would generate both mac & windows apps and a top
notch multimedia toolkit to boot.

I'd postpone this decision until after we know who purchased them and
what's the new roadmap. Currently, IMO, it doesn't make sense to purchase
D2006 but wait for D2007. If you see, that due to change of plans there
will be no D2007, then probably one could purchase D2006 - it's the best
out of the 3 latest releases.

Now now, everybody settle down. Smile

If you'll hop on over to the Borland newsgroups, especially Delphi
non-tech, you see that this is probably a better thing for Delphi and
the other IDEs.

Now the Delphi team can focus on Delphi instead of making money on
Delphi to pay for Borland's ALM and "Software Delivery Optimization" (I
still don't really know exactly what that means?).

One of the issues going through my mind is what will happen about upgrade pricing. I'm not sure, as a hobbyist, that I'll be able to afford D2007 if the buyer doesn't keep a decent upgrade pricing.
