You've spotted the "fame" component, can you tell me where the "fortune" part is?

Sorry fame and fortune dont go hand in hand.
I guess your new house has doubled in price
now, sell up and move to the Med.

If I see another UK TV programme about a British couple selling up and
moving to the Med, destroying the atmosphere they seek out to leech on,
I'm going to burst. Learn French, guddemmit!

There.

Why learn a language like French when Spanish and English get you by
anywhere on this planet ?
I do however speak French more my schools choice than mine, then we
had a place in Brittany most of the locals spoke good English in towns
but the country folk didnt.
I have seen some of them tv programs you speak about but didnt see
anyone destroying the atmosphere.

That's scaringly arrogant, that. And untrue to boot.

Yes, I saw the British are opening fish&chips shops there now. With only
English customers.

Learning the language of your lifetime host seems to be rule one of
politeness. Trying to start up little secluded colonies removes the
original charm of a region. It also attracts busloads of charming binch
drinkers. Smile

You won't 'get by' for very long where I live with only those languages
at your disposal. Average vocabulary in English extends to a few dozen
words or so and virtually no-one knows anything at all about Spanish (or
French, come to that).
