Is anybody using the DBISAM internet server Tim posted? I'm trying to
set up a test email server but can't seem to get the Pop3/smtp to work?
I"m email from my desktop to the sever which is on a VM image and the
emials are getting placed in the mail.dat file but when I run the emial
client(ThunderBird installed on the VM) it says no nno messages? Plus
It's won't send any mail from the client either fails with "The Mail
box does not exist."

Any help/tips would be appreciated.

Can you see a POP3 connection showing up in the Internet Server when you
trying to check for new messages ?

Is that an immediate error message or a bounce email that you get back from
the server ?

Yes, but not right away seems delayed for a second or two.

No error at all, the client just reports no new emails. But looking at
the mail.dat shows they were at least received by the server.

Wow, that's odd.  It should be immediate if you're on a LAN or the same
machine.  Is there any firewall in-between the two ?

So, you can see the POP3 connection show up and then go away on the database
server, and the client reports that there aren't any new emails even though
there are some present.  Is that correct ?  How many mail accounts do you
have defined ?  Is it possible that you're checking the wrong account for
the emails ?

Nope, MSFW is disabled on my image. I'm sending the email from Outlook
via Exchange from my desktop PC, The Inet Server is getting the email
I'm seeing it appear in the DB and I have spam filtering off. And the
Test client (Thunderbird) in on the same machine as the server. When I
get a chance I'll enable logging and see what TB is sending/getting
from the server.

No only one account.

Don't waste too much time on this. I'll give it another go this
afternoon, but if it fails Ill go to our QA lab and hook up to their
network and test. I'm sure you have more pressing matter's to attend
too (ElevateDB) Wink Thanks.

If the server and all are connected at home on a router go next door
and see if u can email from a different setup.
I had similair thing it was the pop3/smtp and IP getting as confused as
I was in the end Roy and some other guys from here emailed in and I
got out but never ever fixed it on my home server and desktop.

I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the VM and the IP
addresses/ports.  Perhaps there's a configuration foul-up that is mucking
with things.

Well, if you want to send me your mail and mailbox tables along with your
Thunderbird settings, I can see if there's anything out of whack.

Well it looks like Thunderbird was the culprit. WhenI used OE I had no
problems recieving emials. However sending fails. But I"m no worried to
much on that because I only need to test inbound Pop3 scanning.

Thanks for everyones suggestions.

Interesting.  When I get some free time I'll try it with Thunderbird.  We
use OE, so that explains why we haven't seen it before.

It looks like TB is sending the TOP command, which your sever doesn't
support. I ended up adding it my self so I could test with it. When I
get a chance I'll rebundle it and post it back to attachments.
