Is it just me or is D2006SP1 a bit flaky?

Can someone else try the following

Open D2006, Close the welcome page, File - New vcl app, click on the form, click the close button for the edit window and woops.

Also if I try to send a report non-anonymously it bombs, if I try to access Quality Central - it bombs, try deleting a component category with components still in it - it bombs.

Maybe where I went wrong was in not allowing the installer to install ALL the junk?

Works no problem for me.

I did use the default installation

I had a significant slow-down until I disabled the Error Insight.

Other than error MessageDlg's that pop-up with no text, D2006 seems to
be working fine. I did put in the SP1.

Considering that I had D2006 since it came out, I'm only just now
getting to a point where (maybe) I can use it... still not sure tho'

Roy,

Where now using 2006. So far it's pretty good. ErrorInsight seems to be
ok on my machine (Course 2gb ram may help). My only pet peeve is the
new Rmote Debugger totally Blows! You have to install the .net frame
work on your test (we use VM's) machines to get it to work. And to date
I"ve only successfully used it once. Very unstable. I ended up making a
dev VM so I can debug with out the constant battles with it.

Have you found out how to stop the component palette resetting itself yet? I thought "Lock Reordering" did it but I just managed to update another of my freebies and add it in and the damn things reset itself yet again.

I could grow to hate this!

Roy,

Haven't triggered off the reordering so the answer is no.
I'm really trying to like d2006 but it's taking time.  My comfortable
slippers (D7) look pretty good right now Smile

I'm not even sure I know what Error Insight is.  I just know with 1G
I had trouble moving components around on a form in real time.
Maybe I'll add more memory.

Subtract 1 and I'll agree with you. I'm leaving D6 on my PC and using it for all the "old" stuff.

Don't suppose you know if there's a maximum number of components per category - its now creating a second category for me with the same name as the first and stuffing things into it - I'm sure it'll all be worth it when I get there but at the moment I feel like chucking it down the nearest toilet. I suppose in the end it'll be uninstall and reinstall doing just what it wants.

I'm having problems with a datamodule, it draws incorrectly when i move
components over it, and hides it self when click in the tool palette to
drag a component, so i can't drop it in the hidden datamodule. Am I
missing something?

Roy,

I'm just a newbie with D2006 so don't really have much more to offer.  I
suspect there may be d2005 users who can answer questions that might
relate to D2006.

I must admit that spending a day or 2 hacking some old code has made me
much more comfortable with D2006.  I'm using the opportunity to review
all the code in my one major app... so maybe that's a good thing.

I certainly want to get everything settled before Tim releases the
next version Smile
