Never, ever believe how software can fail |

Herb (Kraft) | All of a sudden regardless of what I did, I couldn't move from one record to another in DBSys or 3rd party utils like Sendero. Nor could I
create tables. I could type in the name of the first field, then DBSys etc. didn't want to allow me to enter another field. After installing, uninstalling, beating on registry, testing compiled applications I made, shutting down AV- the answer is? Try looking for a simpler answer than software that always works suddenly going bonkers. MY <EXPLETIVE DELETED> BRAND NEW KEYBOARDS down arrow key failed. President of Logitech is getting a call tomorrow. Really. Something else to ask customers if they complain about a program that worked suddenly stopping. Single keyboard key failure. Herb |

One day I got so frustrated with my Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse that I unplugged the transceiver, removed my rechargeable batteries and dropped the whole package in the garbage can. When a keyboard "mostly" works, it is useless. My wife noticed it on top of the trashcan and I think she understood after a single growl. On the same note, I was very sad the day my real IBM clicky keyboard (you know, the 10 pound one) stopped working. (sniff sniff) -Johnnie Hey virus writers! Here is an opportunity to really get some people mad. Intercept the keyboard and change or remove one out of every 50 keys typed. |

I gave my fitst one away about 5 years ago, when it was about 4 years old (I did not like the click anymore). Works like a charm for a friend. The next one is on my desk since then. Never ever try anything else, it's a waste of money and lifetime. Ralf |

"Lance R." | We've used Cherry's over the years. Always nice stuff.
We've used their mag stripe and smart card models too. (sniff sniff) It's not an IBM, but an old NMB keyboard that clicks up a storm! It's heavy, it's ugly, best of all it's got a BIG enter key, ya can't miss it. I hate those new keyboards with the tiny little enter key. I especially hate those new Dell keyboards. |

My wireless logitech was broken some day so I rushed to the shop to buy a new one....found the Microsoft Wireless Multimedia keyboard, bought it and rushed back home....only to find that it was not recognized by windows XP and needed the cd-rom to be installed.......argggg....could not get beyond the login screen to install the cd-rom…. Got that solved by using some old keyboard I was using on my HTPC ............ To find that Microsoft had made al the F keys almost obsolete by adding office functions (help, undo, new open etc) to them and only with the F-lock key the F functions keys are available…This F-lock key resets with every reboot however ….argggg.. Finally found a hack on the internet and I could started working again. Only to find that the Del key had been moved …… |

Strange you should mention Dell - I just bought my wife a new PC - a Dell 3100C - nice PC and very quite. First problem - its a narrow case - my full width PCI wireless network card won't fit - unscrew the mounting plate and stuff it in - crashes the machine nicely - Dell just doesn't like it - buy a USB wireless adaptor Unfortunately I like to set up multiple partitions then when everything goes titsup I don't lose the data. Partition Magic worked a treat. After almost a day of installing and copying its about ready to go. Final stage take a Ghost of the C: partition - oh God! machine gets screwed - reinstall Windows (I had the foresight to order the XP disk from Dell) - check with Partition Magic - another hidden partition I hadn't spotted before - zap it try Ghosting again. About 4 hours and 5 full reformats and reinstalls later decide that my 2003 version of Ghost just isn't going to work. Reinstall Windows, install all the apps, copy all the data find that the OS recovery CD bought from Dell doesn't have the necessary drivers on it (sound, video etc) still the machine's running and Dell have promised me a copy of a driver disk after 1) giving them the address information from the order form and then 2) verifying that information. I remember why I vowed not to buy Dell again - maybe this time I won't forget Roy Lambert |
