Hello,

I got a new job, for maintain a Delphi application that based on DBIsam
3.26, they have some issues with current code, and I would like to have some
information to move on for this job, the application work as  single user
and client/server mode, here are few problems they told me about:

1. They have networking Issues with DBisam with network in  win98.

2. The dbisam server doesn't work on windows Vista.

3. They have some problems updating multi users in the network.

Now, I know V 3.26 is too old, and I don't know if these problems inherited
from the code, or the dbisam have these issues, I would like to update the
DBisam, and not sure for the right track, to move to version 4 or to new
EDB?

Any help is appreciate

Thanks,

The only issues I've seen with 3.x and Vista are related to language support
changes in Vista in terms of the collations and string comparisons.  I
haven't confirmed these yet, however.

What do you mean by "the DBISAM server doesn't work" ?   Are you getting an
error message ?

Thanks Tim for your reply,

I didn't get the source yet, they informed me about the problems they are
facing, but I will ask for more details.

However, for upgrade path, if they have license for dbisam 3, what's the
right path to upgrade for EDB?, and does EDB have any issues on Vista?

Thanks again.

There is a 10% discount for existing 3.x users when upgrading to EDB, and
you can find it under the Special Offers links for the EDB products when
ordering:

As for Vista and EDB, no, there are no issues with EDB and Vista apart from
those which revolve around bugs in Vista, such as the problems experienced
with the SMB protocol:
