What Happened to PowerLynx Hosting? |

Steve Gill | Does anyone know what has happened to PowerLynx Hosting? My
ISAPI-DBISAM applications are hosted on their servers and they suddenly stopped working a couple of days ago. After some investigation I discovered they had moved my website to a different drive without notifying me and so the applications couldn't find the DBISAM databases. Fixing it was just a matter of editing an INI file but it meant my applications were down for a couple of days. Then today my applications stopped responding again. When I went to check what was going I found that my whole website is gone. Not only that but the PowerLynx Hosting website has disappeared as well. I have tried calling Anthony Narcise on the only number I have (800 563 9308) but can't get through. Unfortunately my ordering systems are located on this server along with support forums. The longer this is down the more money it's costing me in lost sales. Does anyone know if PowerLynx Hosting has gone belly up, been hit by lightening, etc.? Regards, SteveG |

That's bad news. I have been with them for a few years but only occasionally had problems. Looks like the problem may be permanent this time. I'm busy trying to get set up with another provider but I'm already getting a few complaints from people trying to order from me. SteveG |

Steve Gill | What's also bad is they're still charging for their "service". My
credit card was debited 2 days ago for the monthly hosting charge. I'll have to put a stop to that! SteveG |

Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | Steve,
Just to let you and everyone else know - we removed them as an Elevate Software partner as soon as we heard about this from you and will do so anytime a company that is partnered with us engages in business practices like this. My apologies to everyone that has been affected by this and was directed to them through our Partners page or these newsgroups. I'll see what I can do myself personally, but I'm afraid that I might not have any more luck than anyone else in getting them on the phone. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

I have the utmost respect for you and ElevateSoft and I certainly don't blame you for any of this. It's a shame Powerlynx aren't as professional as ElevateSoft. I don't hold much hope of contacting them but I'll keep trying anyway. Fortunately, by chance, I had downloaded the critical DBISAM tables a couple of days before so I only have to enter a few orders manually into the database. The rest can be rebuilt. I didn't really making a point of backing up the data as the web hosting service does that. I never considered that the hosting service themselves would disappear. Now to find another hosting service. Regards, Steve |

Just tell them they went out of business and you never got the service you paid for. Dave |

<< Apologies not required. I have the utmost respect for you and ElevateSoft and I certainly don't blame you for any of this. It's a shame Powerlynx aren't as professional as ElevateSoft. I don't hold much hope of contacting them but I'll keep trying anyway. >> Yes, but we try to be very careful about who we partner with in order to avoid such a situation. In this case, I actually knew Anthony, by acquaintance, from when we lived in Florida, and so I figured that this would be the last thing to happen. << Fortunately, by chance, I had downloaded the critical DBISAM tables a couple of days before so I only have to enter a few orders manually into the database. I checked out their web site today, and many of the links are ending up at some domain name site that appears to be unassociated with them. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
