Thread Super slow elevate website when using Safari
Wed, Aug 19 2009 9:00 AMPermanent Link

Tim A.
Hi Tim,

When ever I use Safari 4 to access Elevatesoft's website it is painfully slow loading the
pages. But if I use firefox in in either a native Mac OS context or in a WM fusion XP
machine it loads very fast.

Just letting you know. Perhaps others are seeing the same.

Can't test Safari but website loads fast in Chrome (closest to safari in
Win), IE8 and Firefox in Windows.

So i'd say it's more likely Safari issue on your machine and problem with
website.

Usually you'd need to look for any AV or spyware programs intercepting web
traffic and causing these issues or browser plugins doing same - any of that
apply to your Safari setup ?

Hi Raul,

Actually the closest to Safari in Windows is Safari. <bg>  I have been running the Windows version of Safari ever since it was released (I also run IE, Firefox,
Chrome and Opera for testing my website development).

Good point - forgot about that one. Too many browsers, too little time Smile

How's elevate website speed with it though?

Perhaps. But, firefox has no problems, all other sites I visit loads in safari with no
problems,  and the machine is a fresh install. So I would say that that this problem is
either inherent to safari or the web server running elevatesoft, or most likely a combination.

Strange.

Every single report of a performance issue with the website turns out to be
an issue with the client software, either a personal firewall or anti-virus
software, or something similar that the browser is doing in terms of trying
to filter or intercept content from the web server.

An HTTP server is pretty basic stuff (minus SSL) - the client says give me a
file or resource, and the server complies or gives an error.   The client
end of the connection is much, much more complicated.
