Ditto the only thing I think I would move to it over D7 and D2007
is the component pallet can be seen in classic.
But pricey upgrade noway. I guess they have to get some dough
back as 2009 was not all their gravy.
No D7 still cool for me.

Nope - still using D7. One big stumbling block for me is Coderush. I do not
want to lose that. Productivity would halve. Also the unicode thing is a
REAL problem.

I have D2007 but still use D7. XP SP2 causes problems on my computer, so it's still on SP1 and hence can't run D2007.  Will upgrade to D2010 when I get
a new computer with Windows 7.

Steve,

You might be interested in the current Embarcadero upgrade offer,
which covers any registered copy of Delphi from ver 1 up. But it's
only valid until 31 January 2010.

Details of the offer here:
   http://www.embarcadero.com/rad-studio-2010-migration-center

I upgraded last September, and I'm very pleased with D2010.

Regards,
Dan

I took the jump from D7 to D2007. Must admit, I really do miss Coderush.
D2007 has some features with templates, but they just aren't the same.

Would like to keep 'up to date' with my Delphi applications (as until
Delphi 7, I upgraded every time), but the Unicode thing has me really
concerned. Dare say I'll be using Delphi 2007 for quite some time.

I never tried it, but http://www.twodesk.com/castalia/ might be
something you may find useful. Especially
http://www.twodesk.com/castalia/code_templates.html which seems to be an
advanced yet easy to use code template system.

I'm still considering purchasing it myself, but with GExperts and
ModelMaker Code Explorer I already have a good set of tools. Still, the
code templates ans some other useful things in Castalia are not in
former mentioned tools.

Same here, I find D2007 to be really great. And with a good set of
components of which some will never be unicode, such as HyperString, I
will be using D2007 for several years. Most of my component sets have
been around for years and it's D2007 implementation are really rock
solid. No need for unicode and quite frankly, as a hobbyist, I can't
afford upgrading all the time.

Best regards,
Fons

Thanks.  Yeah I knew about that but unfortunately I can't afford the upgrade at the moment.  I think the upgrade price still applies after 31 Jan if I have
D2007 so it might be ok to wait.

I used to be a big proponent of Castalia and I was one of their first
customers.  But they kept raising the price with each new release and
the final straw for me was when they changed their pricing from one
license covering all installed IDEs to needing to purchase a separate
license for each IDE version.

I discovered CnPack http://www.cnpack.org/index.php?lang=en and I
haven't missed Castalia since.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that felt the same way.  Castalia just got too expensive for what it is.

Thanks guys,

I'm going to give CNWizard a shot and see how I like it.

Cheers

Adam.
