Roy,

Maybe it's just the home-version that is working. Actually I refuse to
work with Vista. I just installed it for testing my applications.

Hah...  Good luck.

It seems to be fixed in Windows 7 so far in my testing, but there is no
fix for Vista.  It will open up folders with different views depending
on your mood....  meaning that if you are having a bad day, it will
definately keep changing its mind on how Bill and Steve want you to
look at the folders.

I can't stand Vista, but managed to get stuck with a PC that only has Vista
drivers. Vista stripped a lot of functionality out of Explorer like dragging
and dropping in CMD windows, copying file names omits extensions, start>run
does not retain the history etc- just plain rubbish. So, I dropped
VMWorkstation on my Vista and am happy with a bunch of XPs (& 2003) again.
Perhaps MS Virtual PC would work for others but the feature set is skimpy
compared to VM... bottom line is I have a better way to run Windows than
getting stuck with Vista.

For anyone with MSDN, Win 7 RC1 was released on 5/5.

In vista, you don't really need a hot key anymore if you have searching
on for the programs menu.  I just hit the Windows key (on my Microsoft
keyboard) and type "XY" and within a split second, Vista has found
XYplorer and I just hit Enter to launch it.

But I also use XYplorer in XP and have simply moved the shortcut to the
main start menu so that it shows up as soon as I hit the Windows key.
Then the total keystrokes is down to 2:  WindowKey, X (assuming no
other programs start with X).

Hope that helps...

I am using windows-e for EDB-Manager and recommend AutoHotkey to realize
that:

http://www.autohotkey.com/

Just create a script that looks like this:

#c::run, C:\Programme\GlobalSCAPE\CuteFTP Professional\cuteftppro.exe
#d::run, H:\DBISAM\Addition\ver3\util\dbsys\dbsys.exe
#e::run, C:\Programme\ElevateDB Additional\Version 2\utils\edbmgr\edbmgr.exe

Fine tool and you can do everything you like with it.

Working well - especially after I managed to find where Vista hid the StartUp stuff again.

I am using Autohotkey for many things. There are plenty of sample
scripts in the internet. You can also use it to insert templates into
your code-editor.
