Hi,

I just installed the new build 4 and I must say I'm impressed with the speed
improvement!
As far as I could see in a couple of hours, some of my queries run now about
30% faster!
Congratulations, Tim.

Obviously my signature is wrong in the previous message!
It should be [Team Elevate] and not [Elevate Software].
My apologies.

Cool, I'm glad that things are working faster for you.  I actually had to
modify a test project yesterday that tests the progress reporting because of
this.  It estimates the number of rows that are processed within the context
of one progress interval (1 second) and I had to bump up the estimate
because tens of thousands of more rows were being processed in the same
amount of time as before. Smiley

You do know that Tim builds several delay loops in ElevateDB and DBISAM and
every 4 months or so he just lowers the loop number, right?

Smiley Once I realize some of the bone-headed performance issues that I
sometimes code into the engines, it sure seems like that.  In this case it
was something in the indexing that I've known was sub-optimal for some time,
and I finally got around to fixing it (stability first, peformance second).
Plus there was an improvement to the LOJ processing that was brought to my
attention by a DBISAM customer, and will also be fixed in DBISAM shortly.

Damn! I thought I was the only one using it but it seems everyone knows
the trick Smiley

It reminds me when I bought my first "professional" computer, a 16Mhz
IBM-PS2 with an amazing 1Mb of RAM and 20Mb HD and suddenly some old
programs became unusable because they run too fast Smiley

Yeah, that was especially true with games - some of them were so jerky that
they were literally unplayable. Smiley
