Is there method or tool available to import tables from an odbc-datasource into DBISAM?

You may open as dataset the any ODBC source via OLE DB (ADO) provider.

For example, you may use the SMImport to load your ODBC into DBISAM:

Does SMImport require that you have delphi installed. Is it not a stand alone product?

I am not a delphi-developer.

SMImport is the set of components for Delphi/C++Builder

Well then I guess I cannot use SMImport for my purpose.

Is there not a stand alone tool that can import from an odbc-datasource into dbisam?

John,

Do you want to recreate the tables using the imported tables, or are you
importing into existing DBISAM tables ?

Hi Tim.

I need to import into existing tables from an odbc-datasource on a daily basis.

Hi John

I have an old utility that will import into DBISAM tables using SMImport
components.  It would need to be re-compiled to use the latest version of
the components.

I can do that if you wish - but before that - can you tell me the source for
the import (it may be covered in the existing utility.  Also is there any
unique field required in the existing DBISAM table or are there any
auto-calc fields / values created within the existing application that need
to be repeated with any import?

Regards

Bobby

Hi Bobby.

Thx for your help.
I have not yet decided which tables to export and import, so I can not yet answer those questions.

John,

In that case, any utility which allows import/export between ODBC data
sources should work.  Unfortunately, I've done several Google searches and I
can't seem to find any generic tools or utilities that allow for this.
There must be at least one somewhere, but I can't seem to find it.  If there
isn't one, then that sounds like a niche that someone could fill with a
product.
