OK.  I expect I will be freeing up a P4 400MHz with 256MB of RAM later
this year.  That should be enough I would expect.

That would work quite well.

I've implemented a file server for a local charity with
essentially that configuration. Obviously faster & more
memory is always better but if you just looking for a test machine
it should work great.

We do our Kylix compiles on a P3 450 with 128 megs of RAM.  It's not really
usable for IDE work, but it does just fine with compiling and command-line
stuff like servers, etc.
