Many times I've planned everything out, I've organised and thought I knew exactly what I was doing and what I had to do - I programmed it flawlessly then I thought "that would be a good idea" and it generated another 6 months work

Roy,

<< Let me guess - you had it working "perfectly" then you did something
which made you say oh bother I never thought of that I'll just have to
totally rewrite the indexing system to cope with it oh joy >>

Actually, it was a matter of "these indexes are way too damn big so I'd
better rewrite the compression so that they are smaller" combined with "damn
it's hard to write the index compression code without using pointers so that
the code can be 100% managed code". Smiley

All of the other months since then have been filled with a lot of what you
said.  One step forward, two back, four forward, one back, rinse, repeat....

Ahh - their's your problem Tim. Rinsing is either Kitchen or Laundry work -
both of which you should have your wife doing instead.  Wink

Was there a serious answer to this question?  I read everything else, but
didn't see where we're at with v4.x??  Smile

Cheers

Yup...just before your post. Tim wrote:

This is mainly because I'll need a day or two to readjust my thinking
and get the 4.x fixes straight."

Thanks for that. Must have missed it. (Or being too occupied by being
entertained by the other thread. Wink
