Thread DBISAM Engine Error # 8963 BLOB block buffers corrupt in the table 'tblJobs'.

Hello.

I'm regularly getting this problem.

We use a P2P network.  The machine with the Database and DBISAM Server is
only used for this application.  the exe is also stored on this machine.

There are 4 Client machines using the application.  All machines use XP,
some being Pro and others Home.

The 'culprit' memo field is connected to a TDBWPRichText component (WPTools)
which is used as a Notes field for the jobs.

We use this component because of the Rich Text, searching and being able to
create our own Hyperlinks (for shortcuts to other jobs).

The problem always occurs after editing the TDBWPRichText and then moving to
another control.

It is a real pain, everyone having to log off, closing down the DBISAM
Server and then repairing the table.  Then of course digging out the
previous days BackUp to get the notes back (or as much as can be recovered).

I have tried to determine what brings the problem on but have had no joy to
date.  It happended twice to-day and once yesterday.  Might not occur for
another week.

Would anyone have any hint as to how I can stop this?  Perhaps using a BLOB
field rather than a Memo would help?

Thanks.

Rob.

Sorry,  forgot to mention.

Am using 4.24 Build 1.

Have had the problem for a few months now and suspect it may have started
when I changed the DevExpress RichText that I was using for the WPTools
component.

I also use WPTools and Julian's advice seems to be to use the db version of his component only for display. He recommends using the standard TWPRichText and using .AsString to load/return to file the contents.

Don't know if this is related but its certainly worth trying.

Hi Roy.

I am aware that Julian does not recommend using the data aware version.  Not
too sure why, but I guess this sort of problem may be the reason.

I originally used the non data aware offering but was perhaps a little lazy
as I changed it to the data aware version later on.

Failing any suggestions from Tim (and I note that nobody else is reporting
the same problem) I'll tackle it over the weekend amd change back.

Hope you're having better weather up North than we are in sunny Chester.

Rob.

Its rubbish just now - very heavy rain overnight (I know from letting the dog out to add to the dampness) which is messing up plans to cut the lawn.

Roy

A final update on this problem, having fully tested the changes I made.

I changed to the non db version of the component.  I finally sorted every
possibility (I think) to ensure the data gets saved regardless.  This did
not fix the problem.

I noticed however that I had the notes fields in a separate query linked to
the main query.  I cannot remember why this was done but I removed the child
query and used the notes fields from the main query (if this makes sense)
and the error no longer occurs.

Thanks for your suggestions.

Rob.
