with the table 'Z:\AllocationsV6\Data\PAYROLL.IDX'

Does anyone know what might cause this sort of error?

What OS is the application or database server running on ?  If it is Windows
2003, is SP1 installed ?

Well, the error is a virtual memory error related to the process working set
size.  IOW, it's a really rare and bizarre error.  Is the error occurring on
the database server ?  If so, then how many sessions are present on the
database server ?
