Sanford Aranoff
Alter table with dbsys. First unchecked encrypted. Save. Then I added a
new password.

How was I able to uncheck encrypted without giving the password?

You must have save the password during the current session already.  Once
its keyed in,
it will not prompt you again unless you clear it.

Could you be a little more detailed as to what steps you're taking ?  Are
you altering the table once, or twice ?  And, are you setting the password
in the first alter, and then removing it in the second alter ?
