Hi,

We have a customer with following situation:

dbisam 4.24 build 1
delphi 7
local tables

two pc's on a wireless network with XP :
main pc : tower ( no problems)

laptop: network status = very good ( excellent connection )
When they want to alter tables, the 10223 and 10225 errors occur very often.
The program (installed on the laptop, data is available on the main pc) is
very slow.

my opinion is: it could be a network problem ( but why problems while the
status is OK)?
or it could be a virusscanner or firewall.

any other suggestions ?

regards and thanks in advance

Erik

Wireless networks are a nightmare. My first one the connection would drop for less than a second and then pick up again. Problem is that as soon as the network is broken in fileserver mode you've had it.

Speed is another thing. My current wireless LAN is meant to be 108Mb. As a guess from checking it out on occasions its down to 10-20Mb unless a very big file is being transferred.

I'd recommend moving to C/S or hardwiring the pcs together.

Erik,

As Roy pointed out, you've got a flakey connection.  You're going to want to
use the 5-connection database server provided with DBISAM over a wireless
connection.   That will allow DBISAM to peform automatic connection recovery
without your customer even knowing it.
