Thread Visualize data

"Petter Topp"
Hello.

I'm looking for a tool / control / application that can visualize relations
in my data.
We are working on software for tracing products through food producing
facories/companies,
and displaying data in various grids is the way things work today, but it
would be very nice if we could draw a relations map of the data.
A simplyfied process could be like this:
Many products are put together through a process to become a new product.
The new product can be dispatched out of the faktory or be put into a new
process.
The backtracing can start with the finished product, and ends with the
separate products that went in it.

I want to visualize the finished product, and all the processes it went
through / additional products added, and finally what went inn.
In the next step we trace forward based on one of the products that went
in....

Anyone heard of something that might fit this project?

Regards
Petter

Have a look at http://www.tmssoftware.com/ - Diagram Studio - but be warned their documentation isn't brilliant.

Thanks Roy,

I'm really looking for something that can do some magic with my data.  Smile
Seems like I will need to do some coding here...

I think (my brain says I've see it) there's a suite of components out there intended for the process control industry which might be nearer what you're looking for but naturally I can't remember where I've seen it.

If you want the tool to reverse engineer your database into flow
diagrams or ER diagrams, then you need a case tool.

If you want to draw the relationships yourself, then try:

SmartDraw
MindMapper
DiagramStudio
Gliffy (www.gliffy.com) - Free
Dia - Free (More case tool oriented)
WizFLow (Flowcharts)
Visio

If you are looking at DBisam Friendly data modeling then try

If you want to visualize with UML try
