Is ElevateDB a natural upgrade from DBISAM 4.25. I realise that it's a different product, but presumably it shares a lot in common.

I suppose what I'm asking is can I change to use ElevateDB with the minimum of fuss and get a more future proof solution for my DB backend?

Actually, the two are similar in a lot of ways, but quite different in many
others.

It depends upon what you're using in DBISAM.  You can find a migration guide
here in the ElevateDB manual:
