I asked my local web hosting company about hosting DBISAM / ELEVATEDB
servers and they said that if there was enough interest that they would
consider doing it.

They are at :

http://www.catalyst2.com

If anybody is interested, drop them a line.

Hi Chris anyone needing any kind of server should consider VPS
I was told about it in these groups before xmas and I took the plunge.
Full control £15 + vat pm yes 15 quid check it out.

It is a breeze once you figure out the Virtuozo control then you can
always use "remote desktop" then the penny drops and use both at
the same time and your cooking on gas.
These hosting guys who charge big bucks for socket servers are taking
the @iss. I have the cheap plan now low memory but when I have
everything working I will take my own server down there and colo it.

1) You can use the word "piss" here.   I hardly consider that swearing. Smiley
2)  I agree.   However, the good thing is that competition should take care
of that and those that don't offer more versatile services will simply lose
a lot of business.

I really would like to know what it takes to open a data center besides big
bucks.
Who do you connect to and so on.
Maybe move into a building near a telephone exchange, hookup 100 x 4 port
routers
on 25 servers on umetered bandwith making 400 Dbisam customers happy, all I
need
now is a VS app to carve each server into 4, an old wreck of a building in
downtown
Grotsville 25 Windows servers or 25 XP boxes running your esnetsrv Wink

Hi Rita,

That looked great, except when I tried to sign up for one I was told
that they are not taking any new orders for VPS (on Windows) at the moment!

Do you know of any similar deals?

Rita,

I bet it doesn't cost that much either if you could get enough
pre-commitments from customers to cover the bandwidth costs.  The hardware
would be a negligible portion of the costs and could be spread out a bit so
that the monthly income would cover it.

<< 25 XP boxes running your esnetsrv >>

Well, considering that it doesn't do ASP and a lot of other things, it might
not be that useful. Smiley

Chris
Maybe my fault I spotted it before xmas and told everyone I know.
As they are all stupid like me the host guy had a breakdown Wink
I just had a look around there are lots of them and most of them
link back to vaserve as does mine. I would make sure you get
what you pay for tho for instance I signed up for win and found myself
on linux I contacted them straight away and found I'am on a win server 8
hours behind, that doesnt bother me except time stamps will have to
be + 8 even tho Virtuozzo can let you set the server for gmt it doesnt
seem to make any difference my only gripe. Google vps windows hosting
click uk and away you go the markets awash with them.
