"DBISAM" | Hi,
I'm just writing a new program for internal use and for the first time installed Delphi 2007 and DBISAM V4. It all apeears to have installed fine however when I compile the project with the DBISAM components I get an error as follows: '[DCC Error] dbisamst.pas(226): F2039 Could not create output file 'C:\Program Files\DBISAM VCL Client-Server with Source\Version 4\RAD Studio (Delphi) 2007\code\dbisamst.dcu'' Anyone know what this means and how I can fix it? I am also using Vista if that might be part of the equation. Thanks Alex |

Steve Forbes Team Elevate | Hi,
Vista is the reason for your problem, .. "Program Files" is a protected location under Vista, even if they were created it would be in a virtualised path which would create problems when compiling applications. I would recommend uninstalling DBISAM and reinstalling in a "better" location (fex I use D:\lib\dbisam) -- Best Regards Steve [Team Elevate] "DBISAM" <nooone@noonoe.com> wrote in message news:9FF0C55B-D44E-416A-8681-22F6908950F2@news.elevatesoft.com... > Hi, > > I'm just writing a new program for internal use and for the first time > installed Delphi 2007 and DBISAM V4. Roy Lambert NLH Associates Team Elevate | I also don't use Program Files apart from boxed stuff which I'll never change (eg Word).
I'm having fun at the moment setting a new notebook up - Dell Vostro 1700 comes with a 250Gb hard drive all as a single partition. My first action with a new PC is to wipe, partition into C: D: E: F: and reinstall the OS and the software I want. Never had much trouble until now 4 hours yesterday before I could get the beast to wipe the single giant partition and I'm so far 3 hours into trying to reinstall Vista - great new OS Roy Lambert |

Sean McCall | If you didn't want to reinstall the OS, Vista has the built in ability
to easily partition drives. I don't like much about Vista, but setting up a D: drive for my application development stuff was unexpectedly easy. You would be right if you ignored extended partitions. Vista can easily create 3 basic partitions but beyond that its a fight every step of the way. Initially I was trying to use the built in functionality but when it would only shrink a 250GB partition down to 118GB I became annoyed. I have my PC set up as C: OS & installed progs D: business & domestic stuff (TMaN, accounts, book collection data etc) E: my hobby - software development F: miscellaneous junk including some music, software downloads (amazing how much free Delphi code I've downloaded over the years and you never know it might come in useful) Vista's UI will not create an extended partition, for that I had to 1) find out about and 2) use DISKPART Roy Lambert |

Sean McCall | Microsoft never fails to amaze me. Here I thought they did something
right for once. Roy Lambert wrote: > Sean > > > You would be right if you ignored extended partitions. Vista can easily create 3 basic partitions but beyond that its a fight every step of the way. >Microsoft never fails to amaze me. Here I thought they did something >right for once. Much as I hate to admit it they probably did for most users. The vast majority or morons out there would be quite happy with a single 250GB partition - after all they never back it up Its only the more advanced or adventurous user that will be clobbered by this. Lance Rasmussen Jazzie Software Team Elevate | My suggestion is to reinstall DBISAM, however first create a folder on the
root called "COMPS" or something like that. Then install DBISAM's folder inside that. This always gets me out of trouble (plus... I have all my component company's under "one roof" as it were.
