Thread Another question about the Internet connectivity
Tue, Feb 10 2009 7:55 PMPermanent Link

David
A quick follow up.

My client is looking to connect multiple computers over the internet to a
single server.  Would the best and easiest way to connect to the server be
via VPN?  After thinking about the question, they wouldn't have a dbisam on
the internet.

Sorry for all of the quick questions.  I got the call for the proposal a few
minutes ago so I'm trying to get up to speed quickly.

Thanks.

Can you describe in a little more detail what you mean by connecting over
the internet? Will you have a local app that goes to the internet for the
data? Or are you thinking of using a browser? Or...?

David
Thanks for the reply.

It would be the full application using a wi-fi connection at a remote
location.

You don't need a VPN, no.  You can just turn on encrypted sessions via the
TDBISAMSession.RemoteEncryption property:

http://www.elevatesoft.com/manual?action=mancompprop&id=dbisam4&product=d&version=7&comp=TDBISAMSession&prop=RemoteEncryption

and you will get an encrypted connection over the Internet.
