Thread 9217 on dbisam.lck

Hi,

We have a customer with a network, running several years
suddenly they have dbisam errors 9217 on the dbisam.lck file
the hardware/network boys have removed all the dbisam.lck files but
after restarting our application the error message appears again.

What could be the problem ?
And, of course : how can I solve it ?

with kind regards

Erik

From the manual:

DBISAM_READERR (9217) Error reading from the table or backup file '<Name>'
This error occurs when DBISAM attempts to read from the
table or backup file and cannot read the desired number of
bytes. This error should never occur, however if it does the
most likely reason is corruption in the table or backup file. You
should repair the table if this error occurs with a table, but
there is currently no way to recover data from a corrupted
backup file. Please see the Verifying and Repairing Tables topic
for more information on repairing tables.

So it looks as though you have a corrupted table somewhere

How can the lck file be corrupted? It does not contain anything, AFAIK.

Robert,

It contains the list of tables that make up the database directory, so yes,
it is updated and can be corrupted.

I would have them check to see what, if anything, has changed all of a
sudden.  There must be an external cause if a previously-working application
starts to fail like that.  Likely culprits include anti-virus software,
hot-backup software, or any type of software that can interject itself into
the I/O chain and cause issues.

It's possible that the dbisam.lck was corrupted.  It's very rare, but it is
possible.
