Thread Delphi/2010 and dbISAM

We've been using v4.22b6 for a long time now with D/2006 (and D/6 before
that) - we started with v.3 around 2002.  Now that I've installed D/2010
I would like to continue using dbISAM.  I don't think there ever was a
support contract of any kind, and it seems that February 2006 was the
last time I downloaded stuff - almost 4 years ago!.  We use the C/S version.
Now, what would I have to do?
 1. Some sort of upgrade to latest version ?
 2. Purchase the latest version, download+install ?
Converting to ElevateDB may also be a possibility, but for some reasons
I'm not looking forward to a conversion and everything that goes with it.
I would prefer not to disturb the old D/2006+dbISAM/4.22b6 combo until
everything (including other 3rd party component sets) works 100% with
D/2010.

Starting March 2008 Elevate support changed, read here:

http://www.elevatesoft.com/support.htm

Upgrade and get a support plan and you will be able to download DBISAM 4.29
build 2 which has D2010 support without UNICODE.

Or look ElevateDB, it has many more features and offers both Unicode or
non-unicode support.

Or buy both (as I did) and support Elevate in producing great products.
Elevate database products.... priceless....

I cannot find any requirement of keeping support plans continuously, so
it seems we can just start a support plan at any time.

Thanks,

Aage,

<< I cannot find any requirement of keeping support plans continuously, so

Yes, you are absolutely correct.  You are free to let your support plan(s)
lapse and then renew it/them, as you see fit for your needs.   You just
simply will not be eligible for email/phone support and minor releases if
your support plan is not up-to-date.

As for your general concerns: my recommendation would be to stay with DBISAM
until you have the time to dedicate to converting to ElevateDB as a primary
endeavor.  If your primary concern right now is to just move to D2010, then
I would stay with DBISAM for such a switch.  Then you can investigate using
ElevateDB when you have the time to do so.  You'll like ElevateDB a lot, I'm
sure, but not if you are forced to rush into a conversion to it. Smiley
