Thread Dbisam and AFS - problem with error # 9217 read error

Hello,

A user have reported problems with error 9217 read error, and also locking problems, with an application of mine. The app is written in Delphi 6,
uses Dbisam 3.30 engine and is run as a local engine. The app has an option to be run as a client-server under Dbisam, but the user prefer the
local engine alternative for various reasons. The application has been running at the user's site for years, without a single problem. Recently the
user has changed file system of their network to the AFS (Andrew file system), which I know practically nothing about. The IT-guy at the user's site
tells me they knew AFS file locking system would not work with my app, so they are running the app via a Samba gateway (which also is
practically unknown to me), but that does not help it seems. They get the error 9217, run table repair, over and over again. They also complain on
record locks does not get unlocked.

I wonder if anyone has encountered a similar problem or have some advice or tips on how to work with this problem.

The app is installed on a server with Sintram os, but is run from windows clients.

Best regards,
Mikael Mikaelsson

Sorry, misspelled the os of the server, should be Sintran/Mikael Mikaelsson

Do you know what version of Samba they're using ?

There may not be any way to resolve this.  If there's an issue with Samba
and the Linux file system being used, then that's something for the
respective development teams to address.
