Thread DBIsam 4.0 reports 'table does not exist' when it clearly does why ?

I just spend 45 minutes in a remote session to a user's system trying to
troubleshoot and issue of the db engine throwing an
exception 'table does not exist'.  The tables clearly do exist.  I used
dbsys to select the database folder, it listed all of the expected
files.  4 of the tables when trying to either 'repair' or browse the data
caused dbsys to report 'table does not exist'.  The tables and
indexes were there as I verified with Windows Explorer.

I disabled their anti virus real time scanning of the data folder.    Same
result when trying to repair or browse data in the tables
with dbsys.  The only resolution was to delete the tables and then recreate
them.

Can someone explain to me why the db engine reports 'table does not exist'
when it clearly does ?  I see this often and am
becoming quite exasperated by it.

This is dbisam 4.29 build 4 not database server, local session

Hi John,

I suspect that the .blb file is missing for the specified table.

Thanks for you reply, Chris

I don't recall checking for that specifically in Windows Explorer but my
memory isn't what it used to be Frown

John,

As Chris indicated, this can also occur if the .blb file is missing, which I
suspect it is.
