Thread Questions on Running 64 bit DBISAM Server

1. When I run the 64 bit DBISAM server why in the task manager does it show as dbsrvr.exe *32?

2. Out of memory. Are these limitations of the Dbsrvr. Can the servers not utilitze the memory above where I say they are running out below?

- when running a 64bit dbisam server on a Windows Server 2008 Standard R2 with 8GB memory the dbisam server runs out of memory when it hits 4GB

- when running a 32bit dbisam server on a Windows Server 2008 Standard R2 with 8GB memory the dbisam server runs out of memory when it hits 2GB

Scott,

I'm not 100% on this but i don't think the dbsvr is 64bit just yet (*32
in task manager confirms it's a 32bit app).

Looking at release history :
- 4.31 included in the initial 64bit support but NOT 64bit ODBC or 64bit
DBSRVR.
- Builds 2 and 3 fixed some issues around 64bit.
- 4.32 added the 64bit ODBC

So i'd say the 64bit dbsrvr is not out yet.

Considering dbsrvr is a 32bit app i have no idea why you're seeing a
different max memory usage though - i would suggest you double-check
your results as on my system the exe's are identical (byte-wise) so i
would expect the 2GB to be the limit.

Scott,

It's still a 32-bit process/executable.  The 64-bit server isn't complete
yet, due to the fact that the conversion to 64-bit is going to require some
re-architecting.  I'm working on the 64-bit server this week, so you should
see one available shortly.

The DBISAM Database Server is compiled with FastMM4 options to use up to 4GB
on 64-bit OS's, so this is as-expected.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.
