According to my my documentation "The dbsrvr GUI database server can be run as a normal application in Windows or Linux or as a Windows service. If running the database server as a normal application there is nothing else to do besides start up the database server from the directory in which DBISAM was installed."

When I try to run it, I get the following:  Exception EWin32Error in module dbsrvrexe at 0010620 Win32 Error. Code: 5.  Access is denied.

I am trying to this on a windows 8 machine.

OK, got it running and I can log into the server, but I can't see a service running on the machine?  How do I know if it is running other than logging into the server through the Server Administration?

Owen,

See if this helps :

You can also check service state from services control panel or command
line.
