Thread DBISAM 4.27 Upgrade

My current installation consists of DBISAM 4.27 Database release along with Delphi 2009 as the IDE.  This is running on a windows 2000 server.  It is a very old server, and I was thinking about upgrading.  I have been looking at some Dell servers.  My plan was to install windows 2000 server, then reinstall the application which has all the DBISAM stuff embedded in the server install application.  Should work fine.

But I heard today that windows 2000 won't run on Dell's server.  Minimum level server operating system would be windows 2008.  I do not have the source code for the application, I am in the process of redeveloping that and about 1.5 years away from completion.

Any thoughts on the prospect of getting the 4.27 and app developed in 2009 to run on a windows 2008?

That of course is the key here.

First, you are considering jumping from a 14 year old server to an 8
year old server why? Stop messing and go to Server 2012, then it will
last longer. Okay, my thinking is that it will just work fine. Make
sure you don't put it in Program Files and you'll have the proper
rights to the directory etc. I reckon you have 90% chance of it working
just fine. I have loads of Delphi 7 stuff working on modern servers
without fuss. Delphi is good like that.

If it doesn't work, then you are still okay: your answer is VMWare. You
could either install Windows 2000 server in a VM, or you could take the
existing server and use the migration tools to move it to a virtual
machine. It will then run happily on your 2012 server. Some will
suggest the Microsoft virtualisation, and it may work well, but VMWare
has worked well for me.

(Feel free to ignore my strongly worded opinions. 8-)

Owen,

I have a lot of customers with different environments and all of them are working well.

Delphi XE - Update 1
DBISAM 4.37 build 1
Windows 2008 (32 or 64 bits) running (dbsrvr 32 or dbsrvr 64 bits)
