Thread Anti Virus Survey with DBISAM
Sat, Aug 24 2019 11:38 PMPermanent Link

John Postnikoff

Hello All,

I have seen some issues and have had some problems with various anti virus software. I am wondering what others are using that they feel works well with DBISAM and Windows 10.

Thanks,

We have generally asked our DB folders to be excluded from scans but in
general not had any issues with built-in Windows Defender.

Have had some issues with Norton Antivirus but not related to DBISAM.
That one has a "reputation" system that deletes exe files if "not enough
people have been seen using it" (across their install base) even though
nothing is detected.

New versions of our delphi app get quarantined (even if digitally
signed) so we require that reputation POS be turned off and customers is
usually OK with that after running into this once.

Hi there,

I've been using both Avast and Malwarebytes in my development machines, and my customers have a variety of AV software.
For all of them I always advise that the database directories shall be excluded from scan, no matter what AV or database they have.
No matter what database or AV software you use, as a rule, always exclude the database/configuration directories from scan because even if works well with some AV product/version, it might give you issues with the next one.
