I'm guessing here that you've never tried that with 50 - 100 tables in a database, some of the tables expanded so you have 5 rows, not 1, and are not near the top of the tree. Roy Lambert |

I've tried it in various ways and it works as described - it will collapse whatever node you have selected. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Its a matter of convenience. If you're down at the bottom its often a lot easier to collapse the lot an open up the ones you want rather than scroll to the right point. Interestingly enough, and totally subjectively, scrolling seems easier on an XP machine (HP Z8000) rather than a Vista one (Dell Vostro 1700) and on the Dell seems easier if I'm connected via wireless than wired LAN. Because as soon as you click on the little triangle or + it opens the whole lot back up as it was. Roy Lambert |

>But that's a FEATURE! not a bug. Never said it was a bug, and its a nice feature when you want it. >Here's a quick way I use quite often: disconnect the database, then >reconnect! That way, you can have it both ways. Hadn't tried that but it works - I like the lateral thinking - disconnect the database to close the tree Roy Lambert |

Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | Roy,
<< Because as soon as you click on the little triangle or + it opens the whole lot back up as it was. >> That's not what I'm seeing here. We are calling Collapse for the node with the Recurse parameter set to True, which means that all of the sub-nodes will be collapsed also when you click on the Collapse button at the top of the explorer tree view. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
