Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. timyoung@elevatesoft.com | You may have noticed that there are some new newsgroups available now. We have been in the process of designing a new web site for the past few months, which is the main reason why things have been so quiet. The new web site is almost done, and as part of the re-design we've split the common newsgroups into separate newsgroups for DBISAM and ElevateDB. The only newsgroup where this didn't make a whole lot of sense was the General Discussion newsgroup, but I don't think it will matter too much one way or the other. These common newsgroups will be going away soon after the launch of the new web site, with as much content reposted to the product-specific newsgroups as possible:
Announcements elevatesoft.public.announcements General Discussion elevatesoft.public.discussion Third Party Job Postings elevatesoft.public.jobs Enhancement Suggestions elevatesoft.public.suggestions Third Party Announcements elevatesoft.public.thirdparty Binary Posts elevatesoft.public.binaries The Tests newsgroup (elevatesoft.public.test) will stay so that those using NNTP newsreaders can still perform tests to make sure that posting works okay. Regarding posting, the new web site will include a universal login system that requires everyone to register/login in order to post any content to the web site, or download any products. All existing customers will automatically be set up as a user, and an email will be sent out explaining the whole process in detail. However, this also affects the NNTP newsgroups, since the news server has been modified to require authorization in order to post any messages or replies. The user ID and password required for authorization on the news server will be the same as that used for logging into the web site. If you have any questions at all, feel free to reply with them here. ------------ Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |
