2. New responses to your posts in the Elevate DB Support Forums since your last login
3. View my posts

Why not use XanaNews - an offline NNTP client. It will do what you want and since you download to your PC it means you can still search the forums when offline.

Hi Roy,
what about updating forum software to something "newer" as see i.e. on Delphi-Praxis. It has a lot of extra functionality and shows recent posts etc.

A few things:

1. the forum software has nothing to do with me - I'm just a happy user of Elevate products
2. Tim is one person and I and, I suspect, many other users prefer him to develop his products not the on-line forum
3. I, personally, dislike on-line forums. I much prefer NNTP
4. I can use the newsgroups I've downloaded even when offline - I do not wish to have to be permanently on line, and logged in, to see what's happening
5. I'm much more interested in content rather than prettification (if there is such a word). I have no interest whatsoever in having an avatar, pretty little images that move when my mouse goes other them.

When Embarcadero moved on-line I remember the comments against it and I found the new wonderful ever so pretty newsgroups pretty much un-navigable and was unable to find what I wanted. I'm sure it has improved since I last looked.

I'am totaly with you Roy, We don't need a "better looking forum" at the moment, Tim has enough to do so best way is to use NNTP.

I have it:
   nntp-Server: www.elevatesoft.com
   Port: 563
   SSL: activated
   Username and Password: same as in forum

Every time I try XanaNews I keep getting "Socket Error $ 10060 Connection timed out."

Just a quick note here: I *will* be updating the support forums when EWB 3 is done and I can "dog food" it to re-do our web site.  The forums will be an actual EWB 3 client application (I don't want search engines indexing the forums anymore, anyway, because they give up after a while), so I will be able to do some pretty cool features.
