I like the sound of that. Might even tempt me into doing a bit of web development.

Many years ago I wrote a screen generator in PICK (included a simple command line operation a bit like the old spreadsheets, a text editor, and built in multi table lookups) so I can fully endorse "Apparently, writing an IDE and compiler is pretty hard work."

The one advantage I had was that it only had a few events which were processed in an understandable sequence. (eg before enter field, after enter field, before form display, after form display, before record load, after record load, before save, after save)

It's really cool - you can plop components down a form, use the two-way
tools for setting up the event handlers, etc. and then hit Ctrl-F9 to
compile or F9 to run in the built-in web browser in the IDE.

 One thing that is interesting is that I don't think I could have
written this IDE in any other language than Delphi.  Other languages simply
don't have the type of framework support that I would need to do this type
of project.
