Peter Evans | Hopefully the following enhancement will be completed before the other major enhancements are done?
<< Will we have a compiled server for MacOS and Linux ? >> Yeah, and that's the major holdup. EDB actually already compiles for just about any POSIX target, 32-bit or 64-bit. I just need to create the daemon version of the EDB Server so that I can ship the proper EDB Server support for those targets. |

<< The main improvement is just eliminating the engine source code distribution - that gives me the ability to build the core engine with just a handful of builds, instead of the current 124 combinations of platform, Delphi/Lazarus version, etc. that need to be targeted.>> Supporting XE2 and up works fine for me. I typically stay current and migrate, though takes a while for 3rd party components to catch up. So even if XE7 and up, like it seems a lot of component companies are doing works for me. I do prefer source, though, for manager and engine. However, I also don't have a problem having the engine source and manager source in separate installers, if looking to lighten the wire on file transfers. It can also be detangled with a lot of the old compiler flags. In fact, the manager and engine could require an even higher version of Delphi to compile to further make it simpler. Like Rio or Tokyo. If a new major IDE is released, I can compile everything USUALLY with no issues, unless EMB makes changes to fields and such. |

That has now happened. I would like a time frame for this long awaited enhancement please. |
