Hi Team,
What sort of actions would cause this??

at Open Database??

From the manual

EDB_ERROR_LOCK (300)
Cannot lock <ObjectType> <ObjectName> for
<AccessType> accessThis error is raised whenever
ElevateDB cannot obtain the desired lock access to a
given object. This is usually due to another session
already having an incompatible lock on the object
already. Please see the Locking topic for more
information.

I think from other posts it usually along the lines of changing the DB path or something in the config. Exactly what I don't know

Well, if you haven't attained wisdom by your age I'd suggest givig up Smiley

Mind you I doubt my comment clarified things at all. Is there anything in the system error log? Looking at your latest download it expands the reason a bit - still not much use:

Cannot lock the table ChangesLog in the schema Default for shared access

and the function is given as Open Table

One reason for not being able to open a table as shared is that its opened elsewhere as exclusive - something to have a look for.

Hi Roy,
I wouldn't be so concerned/interested if it was just 'Open Table', but this was 'Open Database'. Frown

What operations does your application carry out that requires exclusive access to the database?

Since I do not know what they are I'd guess at anything that updates the Information or Configuration database (massively wide target so I'm pretty sure to hit it).

It could just be a timing issue (two or more users trying to do the same thing at the same time), I think I remember people having this when just trying to log on

Just done a search for 300 in the subject of these ngs - 213 matches. How about this thread

Hi Roy,
"What operations does your application carry out that requires exclusive access to the database?"
Well I don't know what operations would lock the Database as opposed to a tbale.  I will have a look at the references you supplied.... Frown

I'm thinking it is some aberration in the Server PC.  It happened on and of for a day and hasn't happened since.  Equally, it hadn't happened for two months.  Back then it was only for a period in a day too.

Strange.  It is a Windows 2012 Server.

Ian
