Appendix B - System Capabilites in the ElevateDB Version 2 Manual describes a number of Eleavate DB system limitations.

It does not show the maximum size of a database. Is there a limit?

Assuming you mean how much disk space can a database occupy as a maximum I can't give a definitive answer. Reading Appendix B for Max Number of Rows in a Table it looks like the maximum table size is 128GB and you're allowed 4096 table in a database. Take a wild guess as to indices and blobs then my guess would be (128*3) *4096 GB say c1.5 PB.

If you want to send me a non-returnable multi-petabyte disk I'm willing to have a go filling it up to see what the maximum is Smiley

Yes. As you say, the DB only has the limitations that you indicated above.

It was not a great question. Far too early in the morning.

I was not very concerned that my 2Mbyte, 13 table database was going to run out of space sometime in the near future.

You would have to wonder atthe specs of the hardware for acceptable performance when you get up to those sort of sizes...

I think you're right. The size vs performance curve would be interesting. I suggest a fire year old i3 powered machine with USB 2.

Hello Roy

<<Does this mean you're not sending the disk then Frown>

Nope, probably not. I really do not need billions of copies of the Complete Works of Jane Austen or William Shakespeare or similiar.

Richard.
