Teco TECHNOLOG Systems GmbH | Hi,
I have send around 2 weeks ago a request to Elevate Software about AES Encryption support. No answers so far. It this normal? Does I need to wait longer? There is nothing about plannings for AES256 in the Roadmap, so I want to get an information direclty from the Manufacturer. Is Elevate still active? Has anybody a more direct contact to Tim to find out if ElevateEB is in Maintenance only mode or if new Features will be implemented? If all fails, anybody has recommendations for a replacement Database which can be included in the source code like ElevateDB? Prefered usable with Lazarus. Thank you. |

Fernando Dias | Teco,
Normally Tim answers mail requests in 1 max 2 working days, if he didn't it's possible that your email didn't reach him for some reason. Try to send it again. -- Fernando Dias [Team Elevate] |

I don't think he looks in here on a regular basis, and even if he does, he replies rarely to posts on this forum. I would try mailing him again if it is an urgent support case, but on a matter of "if or when will feature X be coming in the future", I guess that's pretty pointless at the moment. |

Teco TECHNOLOG Systems GmbH | Fernando,
We have send him two more messages about AES Encryption. The new EU Regulation forces us to use an up to date encryption and not old stuff like Blowfish. No response from Tim at all. Looks like that we are abandon the use of ElevateDB. Maybe we are back one day, when ElevateDB has AES Support included. Thank you. Is your EDB server exposed to the internet and the clients off site? Maybe consider a VPN tunnel. Might be a lot less work then replacing the database. For an on premise server and its clients behind a firewall I don't think there is encryption needed at all. I don't use any, for performance reasons and because I don't see a danger in my customers intercepting their own traffic. |

Ian Branch | I have implemented AES256 in my EDB as a compile time option.
