Tim Young [Elevate Software] Elevate Software, Inc. | Roy,
<< What's the latest of being able to exclude sessions from this count? >> Still there on the list. I'm pushing things out as fast as they will go (Free Pascal is fighting me every inch feature is making sure that it is disabled for non-CS versions. IOW, it has to be tracked for *your* count, but it must be excluded for *our* count that determines whether someone has hit the max 5 or 3 session limit for the STD and TRIAL versions. This is not a simple thing, unfortunately. -- Tim Young Elevate Software www.elevatesoft.com |

Would it be easier to reintroduce semaphore flags? The main reason for this was to allow me to track users which I used to use semaphore flags for. Roy Lambert |

OK, any other suggestions for a "soft lock" in f/s mode? What I don't really want to do is to write something into a table, or set a record into edit and leave it that way for the duration. Roy Lambert |

Partially. The main reason for the request on LicencedSessions was so that they could be ignored for threads. This was partly motivated by a need to find a substitute for semaphore flags used to restrict logons but also because an app spawning several threads all with their own session could clobber the allowed sessions count rather nastily. I've been doing some web research and I may have found something. Not sure yet cos I won't get time to test until the weekend. Roy Lambert |

I might have something - byte lock the directory. What's your take on that? I know I can't byte lock any of the table or catalog files, but the directory seems to work. Roy Lambert |
