Thread Minor Documentation Change when running EDBSrvr as a Service (Win7)

I has a problem starting EDBSrvr as a service on my Win7 64 bit machine using:

edbsrvr.exe /install

as shown on page 21 of edb2sql.pdf. When this command is executed from a DOS window (run as Administrator), it does nothing. No message is displayed and no service is installed. (I checked the Windows Services window). The command was executed from the correct directory.

It wasn't until I dropped the ".exe" did it work.

edbsrvr /install

BTW, my server name isn't called "EDBSRVR" in edbsrvr.ini file so I don't know if that was the problem or not. But when I used "edbsrvr /install" the service did show up using the name I specified in edbsrvr.ini. Neat! Smile

You may want to update the documentation to mention to leave out the ".exe", at least for Win7.

Interestingly works fine here (both 32 and 64 bit edbsrvr) also on Win7-64.

"edbsrvr.exe /install" and "edbsrvr /install" both result in the same
"service installed successfully" dialog. Same for uninstall.

Raul,

It's working fine for me today too, with "edbsrvr.exe /install". Maybe for some reason my firewall or AV stopped it from running the other day unless I dropped the ".exe", because I never got the "Service Installed Successfully" message before. It just flew by the statement without generating an error message or any type of message.

Since everything is back to working according to the docs, Tim can ignore my previous suggestion.

P.S. Murphy seems to be working overtime around here.
