Thread Selecting field types in EDB Manager

Is it possible to have radio buttons to select to most common field types? I find it time consuming to have to select from a large number of field types in a drop down list, especially if I'm creating a table with 50 plus fields.

It would be nice to have radio buttons for field types like Integer, VarChar, Boolean, Float, Date and CLOB. Those are the fields I use 95% of the time.

The technique (only works after you've got some there) I use is click on one of the existing fields which gives me the info and modify the name.

It's possible, but I'm not quite sure if I would want to make such a change
due to screen real estate issues and other concerns.  I'll have to think
about this some more.

The TMS ComboBox (I think) has a MRU section at the top - separated out by a line. You could have an option to store the most used types and load those at the top of the combobox with all the types below.

Hi Tim,

Maybe it could be on a hidden panel, so people like me could switch it on and use it without affecting anybody else. On my screen at least, there is plenty of room, so I don't think a few radio buttons would increase the screen real estate requirements by very much.

An alternative could be to somehow make the drop down list configurable. so I could place the types I use most at the top of the list.

That is probably the best idea.

That was my first thought: just to store the values of the combo in the
..ini. So everybody can edit the ini-file and have his preferred values.

@Tim: But don't forget the "Restore default values" button. Smiley

I agree that this is the best solution.  However, I'll have to double-check
and make sure that the keystrokes still work okay.  Sometimes the combo
boxes get weird when the list isn't sorted properly.
