EDBMgr "Create Copy Of Session" uses wrong encryption pw |

Barry | It is not possible to use "Create Copy of Session" in EDBMgr (2.13B2) if I copy the database data files, catalog and Config files to that location FIRST before executing the "Create Copy of Session".
This is because the "create copy of the session" command always uses the default encryption password and not the encryption pw of the session I am copying. If the files I copied to the new directory uses a different encryption password, I won't be able to open the new session, even if I edit the edbmgr.ini file for the new session that it created. I suspect it has already used the default pw to encrypt the config file of the new session. Now I have to recopy the config files to the new directory in order to be able to connect to the new session and edit the edbmgr.ini file so it uses the new encryption pw. Solution: The Edit Session dialog window "Customizations" should allow the user to specify the the encryption password so the new entry in the edbmgr.ini file gets the proper pw the first time. I have no idea why it doesn't do this to begin with. Barry |
